Dr. Murali Krishna and Dr Sri Vishnu Priya are specialized in treating Gastro Intestinal Diseases.

Gastro-intestinal diseases are common in OPDs. In Ayurveda, gut health is given the prime importance. Infact all diseases have the root cause in the form of Agni Dushti (digestive fire). Below is the list of the most common gastro-intestinal diseases we treat at Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital.

  • Gastritis
  • IBS, IBD
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Liver diseases
  • Gallbladder stones
  • Constipation

Gastritis

Gastritis refers to inflammation of gastric mucosa. It is a very common condition and occurs due to improper food habits, alcohol consumption, excess coffee/tea intake, stress, and certain drugs. In Ayurveda, this condition is known as amlapitta and occurs predominantly due to vitiation of pitta dosha. The symptoms include - belchings, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, regurgitation of food, headache, tiredness, indigestion, tastelessness of mouth etc., Sleep disturbances can also occur due to chronic gastritis. If neglected, it can result in peptic ulcers. So, timely intervention is necessary.

At Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital, we offer a better treatment with oral medications and certain lifestyle modifications.

Peptic Ulcers

Peptic ulcers include gastric and duodenal ulcers. Ulcers can occur due to irregular food and sleep habits, bacterial growth (H.pylori) alcohol, caffeine, regular use of pain medicines (NSAIDs), cigarette smoking, radiation and stress. Symptoms include - abdominal pain (immediately after eating in gastric ulcer; and 1-2hrs after eating in duodenal ulcers), nausea, vomiting, heartburn, weight loss, sleep disturbances due to pain. In severe cases bleeding can occur from the ulcer resulting in blood vomit or black stools depending on the region of the ulcer. In Ayurveda this condition is referred as Annadravashula (pain immediately after food intake) and parinamashula (pain occurs 1-2hrs after food intake). This occurs due to vitiation of vata and pitta doshas.

At Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital, we treat Peptic Ulcers with Ayurvedic medicines and Panchakarma which gives good results.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

IBS and IBD both occur due to vitiation of doshas resulting in Grahani and cause abdominal pain, cramps, and abnormal bowel movements. But both the conditions are different. IBD which may be genetic, is inflammation of the intestines and includes a broad range of diseases such as Ulcerative colitis and Chrons disease which are most common. The condition causes abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, weight loss, blood/black stools, fever, and may be associated with inflammation of skin, joints and/or eyes. IBS on the other hand is a chronic functional disease of the intestine resulting in abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhea. Certain foods like gluten, lactose can worsen the condition. Also stress is a major cause.

At Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital, the condition can be cured completely with Ayurvedic medicines and Panchakarma.

Jaundice

Jaundice or Kamala in Ayurveda occurs due to vitiation of pitta dosha and various other causes including- liver diseases, hepatitis, obstruction of common bile duct or excess hemolysis. The symptoms include- yellowish discoloration of skin, eyes, urine, feces. It may be associated with fever, abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea depending on the cause.

At Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital, we offer safe and holistic treatment for jaundice.

Fatty liver

Fatty liver occurs due to accumulation of fat in the liver. Fatty liver can be of type either alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Neglected fatty liver can end up in scarring of liver tissue, liver cirrhosis, and finally end stage liver disease. One in 5 Indians have fatty liver. In Ayurveda, fatty liver is yakritvikara. It occurs due to mandagni and kapha, pitta dosha vitiation. Usually the condition is asymptomatic, or symptoms like abdominal pain and fullness are noticed.

At Radhakrishna Ayurvedic Hospital, we cure Fatty liver by Ayurvedic Panchakarma, oral medications and certain lifestyle modifications.
